help me.i think i'm suffering from "target fixation".
[Source Wikipedia: Target fixation is a process by which the brain is focused so intently on an observed object that awareness of other obstacles or hazards can diminish. Also, in an avoidance scenario, the observer can become so fixated on the target that the observer will end up colliding with the object.]
imagine you like this gal.
she's sweet. she's pretty. she's intelligent. she's everything you aren't.
you think of her. even though you're not very close.
you see her smile. your heart skips a beat.
you see her laugh. your heart skips two beats.
you see her look at you. your heart stops beating. haha.
how to get rid of target fixation. i spoke to some fighter pilots and i found out from what they told me, there are 2 ways to rid yourself of it.
1. get more rest. crew rest is important to safety and will ensure that you are able to stay alert and ready to make choices when they come. it also helps you to overcome the problem by focusing your thoughts somewhere else. see? sleep doesn't help.
2. get the target. you won't be fixated on something that is no longer a target right?
how to let you know how i feel about you?
how to even get close enough to tell you?
that's the hardest part.
