I just finished reading the novel, The Last Legion by Dr Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Not until i wiki-ed the guy that i realized i have actually read one of his other books (Tyrant) before. No wonder his name rings such a bell.

Anyway, I've also learned a new phrase and a slightly revised concept of what it truly means to be a civilization. Or rather what it means to differentiate ourselves from what we would otherwise term 'barbarians'. A rather thought-provoking yet thrilling story which not only compels you to understand the essence of the character's behaviour, but the moral that motivates the entire storyline. It's funny how much you can garner from history. Maybe it is this very appeal that has whetted my fascination to read history. But enough about me babbling on concerning the rise and fall of western society to barbaric forces of old, it's time to dwell on the simple things in life - like where's my dinner? Will i be fed fish? Or poultry? Will i be in time to catch The Simpsons on tv?

Alas, the world of infinite wonders. Infinite possibilities.
