have you ever gone to airshows like the recent Singapore Airshow 2008 and marvelled at the number of fighter aircraft and other military hardware on show?
have you ever thought to yourself... "hmm... i wonder if i ever will be able to fly something like that"?
here's presenting...
THE EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON

cool huh? i have to say this is one super slick looking jet. i'd rather fly this than the outlandishly ugly looking (but argueably more hi-tech) F-22s or F-35s. this baby is capable of super-cruise and other high-G moves. not to mention the equally hi-tech armaments that complement it. go wikipedia if you need more info.

the reason i'm blogging? because i found this...

whahahaha. it's a PC game. funky yes? i am very surprised.. even my uber retro 256MB RAM PC is capable of loading the game and playing it without any difficulty. amazing.
i took some screens of my flight time before i got G-LOC. haha.

like a real sortie, this game starts with a detailed mission briefing complete with the option of choosing your waypoints and armaments.

shiok. this is me at the helm (the HUD rather) of the jet. i was playing a carrier-based mission. so i'm on standby at the carrier's deck waiting for the scramble order. you can see the GPS terrain maps (bottom left square) and the onboard radar (bottom right square).

this was taken after i took down 2 MiG-29 in a super intense dogfight. the enemy AI is not stupid. they'll do high-G jinxs to rid themselves of the heat-seeking missiles. but they always fall prey to better team tatics. this picture is of me and my wing-man just as we were on final approach to land at one of the friendly airfields.

this was my final HUD snap-shot before landing. you can see the airfield and the landing strip. it was kinda stupid for me because i crash landed while trying to take this snap-shot. as you can see from the picture, i missed the landing area and headed into the center of the strip before my jet blew up. nuts.
all in all. it's pretty entertaining. well, i'm not air-boy for nothing. ^^

me.わたし.
